1.  Is SchoolMAX going away?

No. Although RINET will no longer host SchoolMAX, SchoolMAX is still available through Harris Computer Systems.

2.  Is there anything I should do?

School district technology staff members are making plans for continuance of student information service. Some will continue to use SchoolMAX hosted by Harris Computer Systems. Other districts are in the process of implementing new SIS systems with different vendors. See your technology director for information about what your district is doing.

3.  Why is RINET discontinuing hosting services for SIS?

There are multiple reasons for RINET discontinuing hosting SchoolMAX.

• Insufficient participation rates in our small State with its limited market size
• Advances in technology - virtualization, robust web-based applications, and network advances yield economies of scale for large off-site hosting facilities
• Changing marketplace – new vendor pricing models make offsite hosting more cost effective than at the start of this project
• Uncertainty of RIDE’s strategic direction regarding statewide data collection

4.  Will RINET continue to provide support and training?
